Papers, 1894-1989.

Material gathered by Judge Darr detailing his family life and judicial career including correspondence, speeches, newspaper columns, degrees, awards, certificates, photoprints, newspapers, cards, and souvenirs. His daughter, Katherine Darr Hastings, added the letters, memorials, and sympathy cards after Darr's death and included material on her own work in social services. Of importance in the collection are the numerous letters and certificates signed by famous men such as J. Edgar Hoover, John Kennedy, and Franklin Roosevelt. A few of the interesting cases Judge Darr presided over were the McNabb family moonshine trial, the trial of kidnapper James Francis Hill, also known as the "Robin Hood Bandit," and the "International Gang" smuggling case. Judge Darr was also extremely active in the Methodist Church in the Marion and Hamilton County areas.
